ABOUT OUR BEAR CLAW!
Native Americans use symbols & designs to represent specific ideas or cultural expressions. The bear is a powerful guardian; physical strength & leadership! The bear symbolizes sweetness of life and introspection. The bear claw was used to summon the power of the animal. The bear tracks can signify strength and well being, leadership and authority.

LWP 11U Orange adds Jim Baranoski
to the 2015 Coaching Staff

Coach Korbel hand selected a long-time colleague and friend, Jim "Bear" Baranoski, to be Assistant Manager with the 2015 11U Orange squad. Jim was a stand out at Joliet Catholic, a Missouri Southern State 4-year player and drafted by the Atlanta Braves. Jim adds to LWP's wealth of knowledge & experience. We're excited to have him, his son and his family with us.

LWP looking to add to already
powerful winter training staff

Coach Korbel wrapped up meeting this week that has proposed additions to bring on experience from Mississippi State University, influenced by Coach Ron Polk. LWP staff close to Coach Korbel know his mentor-style and admiration for the baseball philosophy and strategy of Coach Polk. LWP is working to add former NCAA and pro pitching and hitting instructors as well, for internal use and to offer direct networks to LWP families.

LWP secures management/recruitment location
Contract has been inked to bring a player and management "Grizzly Clubhouse" to Prospects Baseball. Coach Korbel has been looking to centralize the admin and management office for years to showcase the teams accomplishments ON AND OFF the field. The clubhouse will streamline easier spirit wear access, training, video, meetings, admin and player recreation and incentive.

14U MAKES PHENOMINAL RUN AT 2014 NATIONALS
LAUNCHES 15U EXPOSURE BASEBALL
The 14U squad lost a heartbreaker 9-8 game to West Michigan in the semi-final game on a time expired, 3-run walkoff homerun. With 22 teams at Nationals, the team got that close to the title game but finished an impressive 3rd after playing six games in 36 hours to march toward the Championship. Immediately following the Nationals, Coach Korbel released official news that LWP will operate Exposure Baseball at ages 15U and older with recruitment partnerships and major brands to emulate the colors of Team USA, Captain U Varsity Memberships and collegiate counseling. Statistics, GPA & SAT scores will drive potential player commitments from D1 through D3 colleges. Tryouts continue Tuesday, July 22nd and conclude Wednesday, July 23rd. Some expenses have been offset by sponsorshp for the recruiter program and elimination of play during high school season March, April and May. Training will run through February. An inaugural exposure tournament is planned for the fall for 15U. Alumni from LWP 14U programs in preceeding years will be considered for discounted registration and fees for Exposure Baseball as a loyalty courtesy, per Coach Korbel.
ALL players residing in Northern IL are eligible.
3 roster spots for Pitcher-Only (PO) applicants accepted until 8/31/2014.

ACADEMIC AND COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIPS
Posted with former players from rec ball and travel ball

I have said it for years but when winning, people focus on that aspect of a program or philosophy rather than the mission. Last week, I was very privileged to share a photo with former players - kids that say Coach, or Mr. Korbel. These are outstanding contributors to community, school and athletics - and not just baseball. As for the former players first graduating class of seniors, I know of 11 scholarships to these players for adacemic/community not to mention another 5 scholarships based on athletics. Obviously, academics won in a landslide and I am very proud.

LW PROSPECTS ON BUSCH STADIUM JUMBO TRON!

9U PROSPECTS FINISH RUNNER-UP AT WORLD SERIES!
It's the fourth time in four years a Prospects' squad has advanced into a World Series championship game at nationals. LWP has won one (9U 2009) and taken three runner-ups (2008 (9u), 2009(10u) and 2012(9u). The organization leads its District for these accomplishments and ratio of teams to championships.
Congratulations to the players who executed their fundamental skills and played Rawlings to a 6-5, bases loaded finish!

PROSPECTS' PLAYERS WILL COMPLETE ALL SEVEN RUNGS OF THEIR 2013
CHARACTER NATION™ COMMITMENT!

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Over the past few years, the Lincoln-Way Prospects entire organization has presented over 7,500 gifts to Children's Memorial Hospital. On December 7, 2013, the players will earn their level/rung distinction from the Character Nation student-athlete leadership program and add to those numbers. These continue to be the "stats" that matter.
THIS SHOWS ALL AGE LEVELS.
